Mako Shark |
Sandbar Shark |
|
The Bonnethead and Hammerhead sharks are
similar in that both have a broadly widened head. The Bonnethead sharks
head is shaped like a shovel while the Hammerheads head has the classic
"T" shape. Bonnethead sharks are found mostly inshore and only reach
lengths of about 4 feet while the Hammerhead is found both inshore and
off and can be over 14 feet long. Hammerheads are often seen near the
surface on their annual migration. The Mako is definitely the most fun
to catch and is well known for leaping out of the water when hooked. The
Sandbar is perhaps the most common frequenting our reefs and wrecks. All
are predatory and are caught on cut and live bait. |
